City streets are
tough and weaponry is common, but that doesn't mean police and
citizenry are just going to stand around letting gangs rip up their town.
Volunteer defense militia, vigilantism, hero wanna-be's and Autoduelists
fight to keep their town safe. Your character(s) are either (or
BOTH) part of the
"solution" or part of the problem, and your vehicles get you
from Point A to the Breaking Point. Adventure, misadventure, hospitalization or just
shopping ... you decide.
Time Driver Rules (beta)
These rules were developed
with JADA cars, BattleMachines cars and 28mm Figures, and where
usable -Hot Wheels/ Matchbox and HO scale terrain. (1/72 helicopters
and smaller scale boats are more appropriate for things like aerial
vehicles).
Combat Die Rolling The same CnC dice concept as with Hex Command is used here.
The intent of these rules is for anyone to be able to put
die cast vehicles into a game set in
the future, where dueling between vehicles is a legal sport taking place
in an arena, but that also involves city, town and countryside adventures,
in a time where the world has reverted to something of the "wild
west" and people have armed themselves and their vehicles for their
own protection.
Our goal in designing these rules
was to remove the stuff
that typically drags these kinds of games down, and create a game that
does not take more than an hour to play. This is essentially the
goal of all the rules we make in the Hex Command series: whenever
possible we remove the goofiness and make the game playable for as
many ages as possible.

The image shows the Hot Wheels model
called "Tri and Stop Me"
from Hot Wheels
with 28mm Gang rider attached, and vehicle flipped
backwards to become an actual trike instead of a reverse trike.
Obviously, Hot Wheels and Matchbox are all over the map on scales; all
their die cast vehicles that are actually 1/87 are labeled 1/64.
This is as close to 1/64 that I have ever seen them produce.

-Booklet and letter size PDF. The winner of
the game is whomever accomplishes their objectives by the end of the game
time.

A series of game
card templates are available for you to print onto business card stock
from your local office supply store. The Word docs in the zip file
are made using the perforated card template stock for Avery 8136 Business
Cards, or an office supply stores generic equivalent.
Cards are used in the basic game for (4x6 inch) Vehicle ID,
(business card size) Character
Driver's License and Episode cards (these are also random events and action
cards players can play on each other or themselves as needed).
Other
cards involve Accessories/Weapons cards which players can use to build
their own vehicles using clear plastic Business Card Holders from office
supply stores.

Note: The cards are PDF docs and Word docs; this image was not
able to be used for unknown graphic error reasons; the layout is the same
but the background art was changed.
"S" is for Start. Top row for 10's, bottom row for
ones. Use tick marks under each player number to track earned
points. We put this on a white board and laminated it, then used a
dry erase marker or grease pencil. The four segments across are
simply to keep it organized or for other purposes.
Time Driver Vehicle I.D. Card and Roster system
using Plastiklips to track speed (vertically on the right) and internal
component damage (horizontally on the bottom). The cards are 4x6 and
fit into the hand nicely. On the back are business card sleeves for
gamers to place their game cards.
Note: When writing on the card, dry and wet erase markers don't
cooperate due to skin moisture and rubbing; so use Grease Pencils which
are harder to erase; this of course is only for noting with the manual
cards not the preprinted cards.
