NOTE: There is an issue with Windows
updates that have caused saving maps to SOMETIMES show the error message
"map may be too large" even when working on small maps.
In almost every regard, saving to enhanced metafile and placing the map
image in Word or another program seems to get around this issue.
For saving to BMP and JPG files, see the FAQ
but here are some tweaks that may or may not work based on your computer
configuration (but each or all of these reportedly does work):
1. Turn off all non-essential programs
that may be occupying RAM, including in some reports, anti-virus; for
the moments you are using Game Mapper, click your firewall or AV option
for temporarily disconnecting from the internet or halting internet
traffic.
2. In Game Mapper, try to save at
various zoom magnifications either in or out but this may also depend on
your monitor settings. This means your output file BMP or JPG may not be the same
size as the Game Mapper File was laid out for e.g., as you zoom in or
out and save, the program saves the file bitmap AT that zoom
magnification.
3. Print to PDF. Adjust the
parameters of the pdf driver properties for larger maps using the custom
settings of the printer driver. Once you print to PDF you can then
zoom in and out and find the appropriate increase or reduction amount to
send to your pressman or to your printer. If sending to a
4-color press operation or copy provider, they'll need to know the
magnification degree to enlarge or reduce by, in order to fit the paper
size you choose to print on.
4.Experiment with your monitor
settings; set for lowest possible number of colors. Resolution may have to be set greater or lesser depending on your
computer.
5. Create a blank jpg or bmp file using paint; then in Game Mapper, save
the map you are working on with that name and overwrite the file.
