Miniatures Broadcasting II

The parameters for MB have changed to the following elements:

  1. Simulcasting isn't necessary but it is fun -both players have the same setup of terrain and miniatures- though only one player needs to broadcast the game onto Youtube live.

  2. USB cameras are the fastest, easiest way to get connected but they must all be different brands with the following views:

    1. Overhead camera looking directly down (not angled)

    2. From Player one's perspective, looking at Player two's side of the board

    3. From Player two's perspective, looking at Player one's side of the board

  3. All other types of cameras and connections are not worth the hassle or extra equipment needs e.g. capture card for Gopro cameras or camcorders.

  4. OBS software must be used with Youtube Studio for live broadcasting, 7 second delay is typical.

  5. Small game table is mandatory.

  6. Skype or other online audio chat is mandatory for players to communicate immediately their moves and commentary.

  7. The primary broadcaster should select a PowerPoint slideshow as a video source in OBS so text can be shown with the live video feeds; text announcement guides are helpful to understand where the game is in the process and to make announcements.

  8. The primary goal is to keep the time of playing the game less than 2 hours; also note that the Youtube live feed is being recorded and when done, that will become an available video.
