Italeri ACW Cavalry Figure in CSA Infantry box

Note:

In building my collection, I have NOT selected to use the Italeri ACW Union infantry with the zouaves because I am building western armies, and zouaves are virtually non-existant save some few units. I have selected due to their sculpting, only to use ACW Confederate for both Union and Confederate forces, augmented with Strelets attacking and marching figures. The Strelets attacking figures are MUCH better sculpts than the marching figures imho.

Therefore, there are a few figures to note in this box: First, the Cavalry figure which appears to represent dismounted cavalry holding a carbine out away from his body.

Ok so this is again, a stupid pose because the figure isn't doing anything.

To reduce the wasted look of this figure,

  1. cut, at a sharp angle at his shoulder and somewhat down the side, his arm off that is holding the carbine.

  2. Then, shape the body to reduce the angle, making it almost flat but not entirely.

  3. Next, cut any body away from the cut arm so its is just the arm itself holding the carbine.

  4. Next, hot glue the arm socket back onto the body side but positioning the carbine to look more natural of him holding it down by his hip; as if he is just carrying it or standing with it.

  5. At the very least this enable another dismounted slouch hat cavalryman to look more appropriate.

  6. Again, all of this would not be possible without a sharp Xacto blade of this kind:

#16 (?) Xacto blade; note the lack of an extremely fine tip to the blade (#11 blades tips can break off and are a serious hazard)

Other pictures to follow.
