HCN: Jumping between star systems explained

How are we explaining/using the concept of Star System travel?

We discussed acceptable theories and concluded that in order to play a campaign in space where the game pieces (armies, drop ships, whatever) are moving from point to point like moving from town to town on a planet, the object(s) must have "jump" capability. This means, they have hyperspace technology such that moving to a new star system is practically instantaneous once they press the button; there is no significant time to get to the desired location. It is literally like walking through a door.

But how does time spent at the location differ from the previous location?

It doesn't. It is the same passage of time. One minute at the new location is equal to one minute at the old location, not days, months or years. If you stay a year in the new location all your friends back home have had a year go by as well, even though the laws of physics appear to say that DECADES of years will go by for each year you spend in the different space location.

Can you travel "back" in time?

Not in the same time strand but you can travel to a point in time in another time strand (Avengers: Endgame; if you adopt the multiverse concept which is: there are multiple versions of you and your reality in the cosmos and you can jump from time strand to time strand if you have the technology to do so), and whatever you do there cannot affect the time strand you came from. So where Endgame got it wrong was that interfering with yourself in that other time strand wouldn't do anything because there is no way to know if what you tell yourself about that time strands future will happen because you didnt come from that time strand.
